All Wood items are made from Macintosh and Red Delicious trees from the Ferri property. Trees were cut and sections were sealed to prevent or minimize cracking, then left to dry for 6 months. They are then roughly shaped into the final form and sealed again for a further 2-3 months. The bowls and other items are then turned on a lathe and shaped into their final form. Each is sanded and buffed and then coated with several layers of linseed oil and a beeswax combination. This brings out and accentuates the natural beauty of the wood . Apple wood is a very hard wood, has many features attributed to the unique growth patterns. Only natural products have been used in the creation of these works. All are signed by Rick and branded with the Ferri mark, reflecting the Ferri legacy. To preserve the warm, natural appearance of the art objects all that is required is periodic application of mineral oil.
